Happy Father’s Day!
Before we get into new specials, I’d like to mention that after 13 years of enjoying Steve’s weekly soup creations, I thought that his soup last week,
Northern Neck Minestrone was extraordinary! I would be the first to admit, had I not known the chefs’ cooking abilities, I would probably not have ordered it, based on its name alone. The depth of flavors that Steve was able to extract from these locally sourced vegetables (green beans, English peas, sugar snap peas, butter beans, spring onions, asparagus, fresh dill and chives) was exquisite and so rich!! So… I encouraged (begged?) him to run it again for this weekend so that more of our customers have the opportunity to enjoy its uniqueness. Skip your V8, and have a bowl of this intoxicating tonic instead! How about, if you don’t enjoy it, you don’t have to pay for it?
Additional specials are: Grilled Tuna with Wasabi Butter & Pickled Ginger and of course, while we are still lucky enough to get them in, Soft Shell Crabs with Lime Butter Sauce.
Wine features for this week will be Urban UCO, Malbec/Tempranillo Blend from Argentina and Ponga Sauvignon Blanc from Marlborough, New Zealand.
Tonight is Prime Rib Night, and Sunday is Henny Penny Night.

We were there Sunday night and rushed out to my later regret without giving the chef(s) my thoughts on my dining experience. I ordered the Fantasticks with the mushroom sauce over wild rice, and while all was excellent as always, the sauce had a unique, wonderful taste like any other I’ve ever had in my 74 years. Really memorable, and I just wanted to let you know how much I enjoyed it. Bob Meiser
