Hi,
And the calendar brings us to Memorial Day week-end. Should you choose to visit Good Eats, you will find
Corn and Crab Chowder along with three specials. In a final nod to the spring season we are leaving, we will be featuring
Salmon Oscar
which is broiled salmon with roast asparagus and crabmeat, topped with a light mustard-Parmesan glaze, as well as Grilled Tuna with Wasabi Butter and Pickled Ginger & Soft Shell Crabs with Lime Butter Sauce Tonight, Thursday is Prime Rib night, Friday we feature half-price bottles of wine, and Sunday night we offer Henny Penny. Last week we mentioned that on June 7th, we will not only start opening on Monday nights but will also be expanding our concept with what we are calling “Casual Cafe”, adding sandwiches and other light fare. Work continues on that, or should we say the fun continues on that, picking out just the right sandwich bread, coming up with a Good Eats-worthy chicken sandwich and oh, by the way, could you all please vote by way of reply what sort of bread you believe makes the best crabcake sandwich? Also developing a Buffalo Salmon Sandwich, as well as the favorite of every cook who has ever worked in the Good Eats kitchen over the years, the Blackened Prime Rib sand. Locally, if you’re looking for something to do Saturday during the day, our main produce supplier, Garners Produce, is one of the host farms for “Down on the Farm”, a program that demonstrates the agriculture of the Northern Neck. Their farm stand is on Rt 3 in Neenah, about halfway between Montross and Warsaw. This week we will be serving their asparagus, sugar snap peas, strawberries and three varieties of squash. Stop by and meet Dana and Bernard and the rest of the Garner family and the wonderful food they grow. For more info, visit www.garnersproduce.com Have a wonderful week-end and… We hope to see you.
